Dr. Schuster and Dr. Kovacs often perform two different types of arm lifts for Boca Raton patients. If you have a smaller amount of sagging skin, particularly focused near the armpit, a “mini” procedure can be performed to tighten and re-contour the arm. The advantage of a mini-arm lift is that incisions (and, as a result, scars) are contained entirely within the armpit. This procedure also requires less surgical time, taking about an hour in most cases.
For patients with more significant sagging and loose skin, the standard brachioplasty procedure is most appropriate. Using an incision that extends the length of the upper arm, Dr. Schuster or Dr. Kovacs removes loose skin and may use a Boca Raton liposuction technique to extract excess fat tissue. The incision is placed on the inside of the arm to minimize visible scars. The standard arm lift procedure takes about two hours to perform.

Why does the skin on my arms look so saggy?
Some people have fairly good skin tone and tightness most of their life, but we see many people who, because of fluctuations in weight, age, or genetic factors, have upper arms that look saggy. Upper arm exercises may be able to tighten the area to some degree and enhance muscle tone, but no amount of exercise will firm up loose, hanging skin and fat on the underside of the arms.
Will there be scarring following my Boca Raton arm lift procedure?
Almost any surgical procedure will leave some degree of scarring, and an arm lift is no different. A standard arm lift procedure requires an incision that runs from the armpit to the elbow, on the inner side of the arm. Our patients often say that the resulting scar is a welcome tradeoff to enjoy a tighter, more toned arm appearance.
What if my arms have just some loose skin and I don't want to have an incision?
If this is the case, then you may be a candidate for the arm lift procedure. This is a minimally invasive procedure used to tighten the skin by heating the collagen in the skin using radiofrequency waves. It can be done under local anesthesia with minimal downtime. Final results take three to six months.
