THE BASICS – BOCA RATON BREAST REDUCTION

At Schuster Plastic Surgery, your surgical plan will be designed with your unique needs in mind. Some women who need a minimal reduction may have incisions around the areola only, allowing Dr. Schuster or Dr. Kovacs to remove a small amount of skin and tissue. Most women need incisions that circle the areola and then travel straight down on the breast (a short-scar breast reduction). Our surgeons move the nipple/areola complex higher, reducing the size of the areola, if needed, while leaving the nipple connected to its blood supply. They remove excess skin, fat, and glands from the underside of the breast and suture the incisions closed.

Breast reduction can be combined with other plastic surgery procedures. Some women may opt to have a breast reduction combined with liposuction or an arm or thigh lift. Others make breast reduction part of their mommy makeover by including a tummy tuck in the same surgical plan to rejuvenate their figures after pregnancy.

YOUR PROCEDURE, YOUR NEW LOOK

It normally takes about three hours to perform breast reduction surgery at Schuster Plastic Surgery in Boca Raton. The procedure is most often done on an outpatient basis under a light general anesthesia. After surgery, you’ll go home with a light bandages and a comfortable post-op bra to wear for two or three weeks. You’ll have prescription medication to control discomfort which you may need for the first few days.
You can expect to feel tired and sore for several days as your breasts heal, and you’ll be instructed to rest as much as possible. You can gradually add activities back into your routine starting in about a week, returning to work in about 7-10 days. The great news is you will start appreciating your new, lighter contours almost immediately.
