Thermage®
Have the affects of time and the sun made you look older than you feel? Unfortunately, the aging process and exposure to the elements can make the skin on your face, neck, and even body loose and wrinkled. If you want to look good for your age, but aren't ready for plastic surgery, consider Thermage®. Thermage is a convenient, long-lasting, non-surgical treatment that women and men in Boca Raton choose for skin tightening and facial contouring.
Thermage is one of the many exciting Medical Spa services offered by Dr. Steven Schuster, board-certified plastic surgeon, in his Boca Raton plastic surgery office. You can request a FREE consultation to learn more about this and other non-invasive ways to look younger and more refreshed.
The Basics – Thermage in Boca Raton
Thermage is a non-surgical skin tightening procedure that produces younger-looking skin on the face, hands, and body using radiofrequency technology. Collagen is the key to skin that looks younger and healthier because it gives skin resilience and elasticity. Thermage stimulates and tightens existing collagen while promoting new collagen growth in the treated areas. Therefore, it stimulates your body's own collagen to naturally tighten, tone, and contour your skin. It is most effective for healthy women and men who are beginning to see signs of aging and require moderate skin tightening.
Thermage has several advantages over other skin rejuvenation procedures. Facelifts provide long-term improvements to facial appearance, but they involve incisions and substantial recovery periods. Thermage is non-invasive, so you won't have scars and recovery time is minimal. Also, Thermage is non-ablative, which means it does not damage the surface of the skin like dermabrasion and laser resurfacing. Injectable fillers provide temporary facial enhancement for about four to six months; the improvements from Thermage can last several years. Thermage improves skin tone, contour, and texture without surgery or injections.
Your Procedure, Your New Look
Only specially qualified physicians like Dr. Schuster are certified to offer the Thermage procedure. He performs the procedure in his office, usually as a single treatment that takes from 45 minutes to two hours, depending on the areas he is treating. Dr. Schuster performs the Thermage procedure by moving the treatment tip over the area he is treating, which heats the area and then cools the outer layer of skin. Patients describe the procedure as a deep heating or mild pinching sensation.
Thermage will not remove fat deposits from the treatment areas. You can talk with Dr. Schuster about how liposuction, in addition to Thermage, might produce the toned appearance you desire. The board-certified plastic surgeon proudly offers a wide range of body contouring options at his cosmetic plastic surgery office in Boca Raton.
Dr. Schuster Answers Your Questions
When you come in for your consultation, I'll take time address all of your concerns. Here are a few common questions I am asked about Thermage in Boca Raton.
Will my results be permanent?
While the benefits of Thermage are not permanent, it is common to see improvements for up to several years. Your skin tone will usually improve noticeably after a single Thermage treatment. Improvement should progress for up to six months as your body's collagen restructures and increases. However, Thermage won't stop the natural aging process. Eventually, you may need another Thermage treatment to retain your refreshed appearance or at that point may consider surgical rejuvenation.
What is recovery like?
Most patients can return to their job or regular activities right after treatment without any special restrictions. Some people might have temporary redness or minor swelling in the treated area, which usually disappears within 24 hours.
